- Product Highlights
The use of Unisil MSO-AWN improves the following properties of the resulting materials:
- significantly reduces capillary water absorption;
- increases the hydrophobicity of the surface, resulting in a good "lotus effect";
- reduces the tendency to contaminate the coating;
- improves water resistance;
- improves water and vapor permeability of coatings and primers;
- highly effective with low application quantities;
- water soluble, but solutions have limited storage stability.
Applications & Uses
- Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
- Product Applications
- Can be used mainly in aqueous bonding systems and for substrate treatment:
- sealants and adhesives: additive for improving adhesion on glass, metals and plastics;
- polymers/composites with mineral fillers: for pre-treatment of fillers and pigments or as an additive;
- paints and coatings: as an additive or as a primer to improve adhesion to the substrate;
- single-dispersion paints and plasters based on synthetic resins (including silicone resins);
- silicate water-dispersion paints and plasters;
- components of hydrophobizing impregnations for mineral surfaces of building materials.
- Product Usage Information
- Preliminary studies are recommended to determine the optimum concentration prior to application.
- In aqueous coating systems the product is added during or at the end of the production process.
- To improve vapor permeability, it is recommended to use in conjunction with Unisil EMSO-M or Unisil EMSO-DM emulsions (1 to 4 ratio). Adding Unisil MSO-AWN to systems containing Unisil EMSO-M or Unisil EMSO-DM improves their hydrophobic properties and adhesion to the substrate.
- For the production of hydrophobizing impregnation use together with Unisil EMSO-DM emulsion (in proportion 1 to 4).

Storage & Handling
- Shelf Life
- 12 months
- Storage Information
- Store in hermetically sealed original container at temperatures from 0 °C to 25 °C.
- Store in a dry, cool, ventilated place. Shelf life is 12 months.
- Single freezing will not affect the quality of the product. Frozen product can be reused after complete thawing and thorough mixing.
- Storage longer than the date indicated on the label does not necessarily mean further unsuitability of the product. However, if the shelf life is exceeded, the product properties should be checked before use.
