Afcona-3835 is a reactive polyether modified polysiloxane with methacrylate functionality that can crosslink with UV / EB systems. It averages 7 functional groups per molecule. With this property, it offers permanent slip in coatings, giving anti-blocking and anti-scratch properties.

Afcona-3835 offers the following benefits:

  • Good leveling performance, and, after crosslinking, it gives permanent slip.
  • It is suitable for UV and EB curing systems.
  • Due to its methacrylate functionality, it also may be used for any systems that use unsaturated bond crosslinking as a primary curing reaction, such as UPE.
Addition and Dosage

Afcona-3835 may be added at 0.05 - 1.0% based on total formulation. Under normal conditions, 0.1 – 0.5% based on total formulation is sufficient.

Incorporation

Afcona-3835 should be added during the final stage of the production process. After Afcona – 3835 is added, the production temperatures should remain below 50°C.
