Afcona 3522

Afcona-3522 is a waterbased emulsion of an organically modified polysiloxane. The active ingredient is a hydrophobic polymer that gives water resistance and slip performance to the coating after drying. Afcona-3522 promotes the general coating surface characteristics and improves the following properties:

• Crater prevention and substrate wetting
• Leveling
• Slip and surface smoothness
• Water-repellency

This product also offers low foam stabilization. Afcona-3522 is recommended for use in all types of waterbased coatings.

Afcona-3522 may be added at 0.1 – 1.0% based on total formulation. Under normal conditions, 0.1 – 0.5% based on total formulation is sufficient.

Note: Amounts below 0.4% will not influence intercoat adhesion.

Afcona-3522 should be added at the end of the batch preparation. For easier incorporation, Afcona-3522 may be diluted with water.
