- Formulation Applications
- BIOTREND® SP40 is highly active against micro-organisms. In water based functional fluids (metal working fluids, hydraulic fluids, water based latex paints, adhesives, glues, lubricants, metal working fluids, in can preservation, liquid cooling, processing systems, leather, etc) 0.01 to 0.1% active ingredient is sufficient to control microbial growth. BIOTREND® SP40 is also highly effective in HI&I products such as laundry rinse additives, laundry detergents and carpet cleaners, as well as for the protection of gypsum wallboard (core & facing), ceiling and ceiling tiles. Depending on the application. BIOTREND® SP40 can be easily combined with other preservatives for even further broad spectrum coverage.
- Architectural paints for exterior applications can be protected against algal and mold growth with BIOTREND® SP40, however color, light stability and leachability should be evaluated. BIOTREND® SP40 is compatible with most raw materials used in technical applications, while discoloration can occur occasionally in the presence of oxidizing agents or heavy metals
- BIOTREND® SP40 can be used in a wide variety of non-food contact articles such as: paints and coatings, adhesives, latexes; urethane foams, caulks, sealants, pastes and grouts, wallboard, laundry detergents, carpet cleaners; surface cleaners, floor cleaners, metal working fluids; vinyl flooring adhesives. Please consult Label for registered use applications.
- Product Applications
- Sodium Pyrithione is used to prevent microbial degradation and deterioration of varied manufacturing materials, such as adhesives, paints, wallboard, and latex emulsions, and in a wide range of finished articles made from these starting materials.
- BIOTREND® SP40 imparts multi-purpose functionality to prevent the growth of bacteria, fungi, and algae that can cause various types of deterioration such as discoloration, staining, odors, etc.
