Afcona 2723

Afcona-2723 is a defoaming and air-release additive recommended for thin layer (gel coat), casting resins and epoxy resin systems (e.g. floorings). In addition, it can be used for room temperature curing of unsaturated polyesters used in glass fiber reinforced systems.

Afcona-2723 can be used in pigmented and non-pigmented resin systems such as:

• Unsaturated polyesters (SMC/BMC gel coats and synthetic mortars)
• Two-pack epoxies
• Polyester/melamine heat-cured systems
• PVC-compounds

In highly pigmented and high viscosity systems, incorporation of a suitable dispersing agent will reduce the viscosity and improve de-aeration. Products such as Afcona – 5010 are suitable for extender-rich systems, while Afcona – 4070 and Afcona – 4047 are suitable for inorganic and organic pigments.

0.1 -0.5% on total formulation. Under normal conditions, 0.1 – 0.3% based on total formulation is sufficient.

To prevent foam- and bubble-formation, Afcona-2723 should be added at the beginning of the production process or application into the system. If it is added at the end of the formulation, good dispersion must be ensured.

55 lb and 375 lb non-returnable containers.

Afcona-2723 should be stored in a cool, dry place.

Note: Afcona – 2723 will become slightly hazy at temperatures below 5° C. This will not influence the quality or performance of the product.
